fascinating world of the body-mind

0:00:04.279,0:00:10.759
connection did you know that only 23% of

0:00:07.640,0:00:13.040
Americans get enough physical activity

0:00:10.759,0:00:15.200
and that exercise can be just as

0:00:13.040,0:00:18.160
effective as anti-depressants for some

0:00:15.200,0:00:20.080
people in this video we’ll explore how

0:00:18.160,0:00:22.680
your thoughts affect your feelings and

0:00:20.080,0:00:25.039
how those feelings impact your body

0:00:22.680,0:00:27.560
we’ll uncover powerful strategy to

0:00:25.039,0:00:29.640
release stored emotions and create a

0:00:27.560,0:00:31.960
healthier happier you whether you’re

0:00:29.640,0:00:34.280
dealing with stress anxiety or just want

0:00:31.960,0:00:37.040
to boost your overall well-being this

0:00:34.280,0:00:39.600
video is for you so let’s get ready to

0:00:37.040,0:00:42.559
work it out all right let’s begin with

0:00:39.600,0:00:45.559
the body mind Connection in our last

0:00:42.559,0:00:49.239
video we discussed in detail how

0:00:45.559,0:00:52.199
emotions impact our physical bodies

0:00:49.239,0:00:54.480
let’s talk about a few examples uh just

0:00:52.199,0:00:56.440
to get our discussion going today uh

0:00:54.480,0:00:58.199
first of all let’s talk about stress now

0:00:56.440,0:01:00.199
stress can show up in our physical

0:00:58.199,0:01:02.600
bodies in a lot of ways but some of the

0:01:00.199,0:01:05.159
common ones that you’ll see are either

0:01:02.600,0:01:08.960
tension uh either in the neck or the

0:01:05.159,0:01:11.320
head head area second would be anxiety

0:01:08.960,0:01:14.320
anxiety like stress can show up in a lot

0:01:11.320,0:01:16.680
of ways but some of the common ones are

0:01:14.320,0:01:19.960
either people feel sick that are stomach

0:01:16.680,0:01:24.200
or maybe they have digestive issues and

0:01:19.960,0:01:26.720
third anger now anger can cause a whole

0:01:24.200,0:01:29.280
host of symptoms in our body but some of

0:01:26.720,0:01:30.960
the common ones that you will see are

0:01:29.280,0:01:33.479
that people describe themselves as

0:01:30.960,0:01:36.240
feeling suddenly hot and maybe their

0:01:33.479,0:01:39.119
skin turns a bright red maybe in the

0:01:36.240,0:01:42.119
neck or head area all right so now that

0:01:39.119,0:01:44.399
we have some good examples and how they

0:01:42.119,0:01:45.680
impact our physical body what do we do

0:01:44.399,0:01:47.960
with this

0:01:45.680,0:01:49.600
information uh I encourage you to stick

0:01:47.960,0:01:53.479
around to the end of the episode we’ll

0:01:49.600,0:01:56.960
we’ll discuss in detail how we use this

0:01:53.479,0:02:00.520
information to work out these emotions

0:01:56.960,0:02:02.520
and their physical effects on our bodies

0:02:00.520,0:02:05.159
all right let’s talk about outlets in

0:02:02.520,0:02:08.160
her book reset Deborah feta talks about

0:02:05.159,0:02:11.120
two categories of activities that we can

0:02:08.160,0:02:13.920
do to work out these emotions in our

0:02:11.120,0:02:16.879
bodies the first of these categories is

0:02:13.920,0:02:19.160
body outlets now this is exactly what it

0:02:16.879,0:02:22.599
sounds like it’s physical activity that

0:02:19.160,0:02:26.840
we do to work out these

0:02:22.599,0:02:29.599
emotions it’s no surprise that there are

0:02:26.840,0:02:33.840
numerous benefits for our bodies and for

0:02:29.599,0:02:36.519
our brain health for doing physical

0:02:33.840,0:02:39.800
activity physical activity releases

0:02:36.519,0:02:41.840
emotions like stress or anxiety regular

0:02:39.800,0:02:44.159
physical activity increases the

0:02:41.840,0:02:47.760
feel-good chemicals in our body and

0:02:44.159,0:02:50.720
decreases the stress chemicals Studies

0:02:47.760,0:02:53.159
have shown that physical activity can

0:02:50.720,0:02:56.519
reduce the body’s reaction to stress

0:02:53.159,0:02:58.840
inducing situations by affecting the

0:02:56.519,0:03:01.640
body’s fight ORF flight

0:02:58.840,0:03:04.760
response some common examples of

0:03:01.640,0:03:07.799
activities you could do to actually work

0:03:04.760,0:03:10.480
out these emotions in your body are

0:03:07.799,0:03:12.799
running walking yoga maybe playing a

0:03:10.480,0:03:15.799
sport you enjoy like pickle ball

0:03:12.799,0:03:17.599
basketball Maybe baseball find something

0:03:15.799,0:03:19.040
that you really enjoy and and get

0:03:17.599,0:03:21.680
plugged

0:03:19.040,0:03:24.840
in all right let’s talk about mind

0:03:21.680,0:03:27.319
Outlets mind Outlets are the second

0:03:24.840,0:03:30.480
category of activities that Deborah feda

0:03:27.319,0:03:33.920
talks about in her book reset now these

0:03:30.480,0:03:35.720
activities are used to work out emotions

0:03:33.920,0:03:39.120
that are stored in our

0:03:35.720,0:03:41.519
body two of the ones that she highlights

0:03:39.120,0:03:44.640
are talk therapy and

0:03:41.519,0:03:47.439
counseling now she describes in detail

0:03:44.640,0:03:50.560
the importance of talk therapy for

0:03:47.439,0:03:53.239
sorting out thoughts for addressing

0:03:50.560,0:03:55.560
emotions maybe that are stored from past

0:03:53.239,0:03:58.200
events or past traumas and then

0:03:55.560,0:04:00.680
replacing behaviors you know we all have

0:03:58.200,0:04:03.480
negative or unhealthy Behavior haviors

0:04:00.680,0:04:04.519
that we could replace with positive

0:04:03.480,0:04:07.959
healthy

0:04:04.519,0:04:10.760
behaviors in my experience counseling

0:04:07.959,0:04:14.200
and talk therapy has been vital to help

0:04:10.760,0:04:18.000
me work through my thoughts address my

0:04:14.200,0:04:21.040
emotions and replace negative unhealthy

0:04:18.000,0:04:24.160
behaviors with positive healthy

0:04:21.040,0:04:27.240
behaviors working it out Deborah

0:04:24.160,0:04:29.080
encourages readers to take inventory of

0:04:27.240,0:04:30.440
the outlets you’re creating for

0:04:29.080,0:04:33.440
yourselves

0:04:30.440,0:04:36.000
ask yourself questions like how much

0:04:33.440,0:04:39.520
time are you dedicating to working it

0:04:36.000,0:04:41.840
out both physically and mentally what

0:04:39.520,0:04:44.800
steps will you take to prioritize your

0:04:41.840,0:04:48.680
brain health verse for

0:04:44.800,0:04:50.520
reflection 1 Corinthians 6:19 says do

0:04:48.680,0:04:53.240
you not know that your bodies are

0:04:50.520,0:04:55.840
temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you

0:04:53.240,0:04:58.720
whom you have received from God all

0:04:55.840,0:05:00.520
right let’s review now that we better

0:04:58.720,0:05:03.120
understand the connection between our

0:05:00.520,0:05:06.400
emotions and our bodies we need to find

0:05:03.120,0:05:09.160
ways to work out these feelings there

0:05:06.400,0:05:11.039
are two categories of outlets body

0:05:09.160,0:05:14.240
outlets and mind

0:05:11.039,0:05:17.039
Outlets body Outlets or physical Outlets

0:05:14.240,0:05:20.600
include activities like running walking

0:05:17.039,0:05:23.440
yoga or playing a sport mind Outlets

0:05:20.600,0:05:27.199
include options like talk therapy or

0:05:23.440,0:05:30.560
counseling both mind outlets and

0:05:27.199,0:05:32.919
physical Outlets are essential piece

0:05:30.560,0:05:35.759
of working out our emotions in healthy
