This past week, our discussion was on how to start habits. In the book The Power To Change, Craig Groeschel asks, “How do you successfully start and maintain a new habit?”
If you want to start a new habit, you should make it:
- Obvious
- Attractive
- Easy
- Communal
- Repetitious
Reflection
We have talked a lot about identifying who we want to become, also known as our “who.” To make our “who” a reality, we have identified new habits we need to start and habits we want to stop.
Based on the person you want to become, what is one habit you need to start?
Example:
Do you have unhealthy thoughts that negatively impact your mental health?
Maybe you need to change your thoughts in order to become the “who” God has called you to be. To do so, you need to start a new habit. You have identified three new habits you would like to start.
New Habit Ideas:
- Reading the Bible daily
- Memorizing scripture
- Praying
Task: Choose one of the three you have identified.
Remember: If you really dislike memorizing anything, maybe you should start by reading the Bible or praying. Don’t start a new habit by picking an activity you dislike.
