Issue # 024

I hope you are doing well. This week, we learned that God’s power is available, accessible, active, and abundant.

As we work towards making positive changes to our brain health, we will inevitably get to the end of our power. We learn just how limited willpower is. It is here that we learn that when we are weak, God is strong.

Maybe you have been working on your new habit, and you’re burnt out. Or maybe you have been training hard toward your goal, and you realize you need God’s power. We must learn to walk in the Spirit and put no confidence in willpower.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”

Galatians 5:16-17

Reflection

  1. Where are you in need of God’s power?
  2. What would it look like practically for you to walk in the Spirit?

For me, this starts with regularly acknowledging I can’t, but God can. After acknowledging my need for God, I ask for his help. “God, I am struggling to continue in my habit of eating right. Please give me the strength to perservere.” It also means I am reaching out to God throughout my day – not solely in the morning.

If you or someone you care about are experiencing depression or anxiety, please know you don’t have to face them alone.
