This past week, our discussion was on consistency. In the book The Power To Change, Craig Groeschel says, “People succeed. They achieve their win because of countless seemingly small actions and decisions made consistently over time.”
As you read those first few sentences, you might be wondering, “What on earth does this have to do with mental health?” Let me provide an example. In my own life, I have identified two strategic habits that will lead to my “who.”
I began:
- Getting quality sleep
- Eating right
Why?
Because getting quality sleep and eating right equips me to advocate for the well-being of the Overflow Community and others worldwide.
But what does that have to do with your mental health?
Getting quality rest lowers my baseline anxiety level and helps my brain deal with the challenges in my day.
Eating right is helping me lose weight and provide my body with what it needs. Losing weight helps my body get quality rest. So, my second strategic habit is helping to achieve my first strategic habit.
Both of my strategic habits are about my mental health. Do they offer other benefits? Absolutely, but I started them to improve my mental health.
Reflection
As you consider the person you feel called to become, maybe there are strategic habits you have identified that you need to be consistent in to become your “who.”
